Pass Lake Reforestation

This restoration project is located in the northeast corner of Deception Pass State Park along Pass Lake. Phase 1 of reforestation will take place in the field directly south of an unnamed perennial stream that flows into Pass Lake. The fields that surround Pass Lake were historically used for hay production, which ceased when too many buttercups and daisies were established. The goal of the project is to revegetate 19.5 acres of fields with a mixed conifer forest surrounding Pass Lake to create shade over the stream. This will be a benefit to wildlife, water quality in Pass Lake and beyond, reducing fire hazards and maintenance costs.
This project will continue for many years and require consistent volunteer work. If you are interested in helping with this project, please reach out to us at volunteer@deceptionpassfoundation.org.
