Fall is in full swing and winter is fast approaching, the visitors and campers are heading home which means there are several areas that “we”, as volunteers, can help with in the park: The Adopt-A-Trail, Adopt-A-Beach, Gardening/Landscaping and Painting projects just to name a few.

Adopt-A-Trail and Adopt-A-Beach programs are a spectacular way to enjoy the park on any given day. With the change in weather, a brisk early morning walk on one of the many trails that wind through this vast park or strolling along the beach while enjoying the sound of the water rolling in and out is a pleasant way to start your day. Sadly, as we know from experience, visitors often leave litter behind that has the potential of harming this environment. We are asking for our volunteers to help protect our park so we can help maintain its ecosystems. For those of you who would like to volunteer with minimal exposure to others, these are the opportunities for you. I personally cannot think of a better way to start my day than at the park.
Gardening/Landscaping and Painting Projects are, weather permitting, still available. We want to be sure that several areas within the park are in the best shape possible before the weather changes. It is important that we prepare the fences and buildings around the park with a fresh coat of paint and, if you have a green thumb, we would appreciate your help with trimming back the foliage and general yard maintenance within the park, at park headquarters and at the park entrance. It will take all of “us”, the Deception Pass Park Foundation volunteers to help make these projects successes.
