Come work with Deception Pass Park Foundation! For the 2021-2022 School Year, DPPF is looking for two Teen Ambassadors to build professional skills while working on projects that will make an impact on the community and Deception Pass State Park.
Work with Park staff and a Mentor to develop a Capstone Project that will advance the vision of improving conservation and restoration efforts in the Park. Develop community relationships by participating in Foundation Events, including the Deception Pass State Park 100th Year Anniversary.
Teen Ambassadors will have the opportunity to learn about Non-Profit Board functioning and develop their professional writing and presenting skills while working closely with State Park Staff. This program was designed to assist young people in the area who have a connection with Deception Pass to build a professional relationship with the Park. This is an ideal position for individuals looking to gain experience in Resource Management, Park Operations, Non-Profit Functioning and Environmental Science
Internship Focus: Non-Profit Operation, Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Environmental Science, State Park Maintenance, Communication and Professional Development
What Will You Do?
Develop & Complete a Capstone Project
Write monthly Newsletter Article
Generate Artwork/YouTube Videos to facilitate community outreach and projects
Work with and assist Park Interpretive Ranger
Present at Foundation Events [100th Year Anniversary] Attend Monthly Foundation Board Meetings [4 meetings] Volunteer with DPSP and other Organizations up to 100hrs over the year
Final Presentation of Accomplishments and Written Annual Report
Monthly Mileage Reimbursement [$60/month] One-on-One Mentorship
Professional Portfolio Development
Exposure to Non-Profit and State Park Management
14-18 Years of Age
Resident of Island or Skagit County
Capable of committing 1 Year of Service Term
Strong interest in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science
